ART
staff evaluated local and regional groundwater flow models, and
developed numerical models for simulating groundwater flow and contaminant
fate and transport for several state and federal superfund Sites.
The models were used to evaluate the effectiveness and the optimization
of existing remediation systems for plume capture, design and evaluation
of remedial alternatives for metals and petroleum and chlorinated
hydrocarbon impacted sites, evaluate the cumulative hydrologic impacts
of localized dewatering activities and pumping to sensitive ecologic
receptors along the riparian corridors and wetlands, and design
and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of dewatering alternatives
and mitigation control measures, such as a levee and sub-drain system,
during a simulated design flood for a proposed housing development.
