ART staff is presently assisting the
Inyo County Planning Department in evaluating issues related to
groundwater supply, demand, and quality for a proposed expansion,
by an additional 32 units, to an existing housing development. As
part of the groundwater supply evaluation, ART staff
is engaged in conducting aquifer tests, evaluating aquifer data,
and performing groundwater modeling to evaluate the cumulative future
impacts to the groundwater supply due to additional pumping. The
evaluation focuses on whether 1) the hydrogeologic analyses performed
to date and conclusions regarding sustainability of the local groundwater
supplies are valid; 2) identification of appropriate additional
testing and analyses, if any, that may be necessary to address groundwater
supply concerns; and, 3) groundwater monitoring program to detect
potential future impacts to existing and future wells in the existing
development.
