DEWATERING CONSULTING SERVICES
Dewatering
is defined as the temporary lowering of the groundwater table for the
purpose of construction, compaction and drainage. This is achieved by
using various types of pumps, shallow wells, deep wells, eductor systems,
well points and trenching systems to drain the groundwater from the soil
to the required depth.
ART staff has performed numerous dewatering assessments, evaluations,
and design for several residential and retail sites. As part of the dewatering
evaluation and design, ART staff has performed the following:
- Performed aquifer tests to obtain the aquifer properties
- Developed numerical models to evaluate the various dewatering system
designs. Results of the numerical evaluation have included the dewatering
volumes and flow rates that may be necessary to maintain groundwater
levels below the depth of the proposed excavations
- Estimated the impacts of dewatering on settlement of nearby utilities
and properties
- Supervised the installation of dewatering wells
- Obtained the requisite permits (NPDSE) for disposal of the extracted
groundwater from the regulatory agencies.
