WASTEWATER TREATMENT DESIGN

ART staff has design experience in various biological, chemical and physical treatment methodologies depending on the source of wastewater. Sewage wastewater, which typically is high in organic content and BOD (biological oxygen demand), is treated primarily through biological methods. Industrial waste streams that are toxic and sometimes high in organic content and BOD, are treated through a combination of chemical, biological and physical processes. ART staff experience varies from use of traditional treatment methods to new technologies due to increasingly stringent regulations on effluent discharge requirements.

Some of the treatment methods used include membrane separation systems (reverse osmosis, ultra-filtration and cross-flow filtration); phase separation (including centrifugation, gravity settling and DAF); ion exchange; evaporation; GAC adsorption; biological treatment; chemical coagulation, flocculation and precipitation; distillation; neutralization; pH control and drying.

ART provides services for procurement of the following permits for the installation and operation of treatment systems:

  • Onsite hazardous waste treatment permit from DTSC

  • Air pollution control permit from BAAQMD

  • NPDES/POTW permits for treated wastewater discharge
